Houston Arledge connections
Last weekend my husband and I went to Houston and stayed in a bed and breakfast only 2 miles from our son and his wife. On their website, it mentioned the original owners of the bed and breakfast had the last name of Arledge. I sent an email about possibly being related to my husband's Arledges. However, we didn't talk to anyone while we were there. On arriving home, I rec'd an email from the original owner, and the email gave me that parents and grandparents names of their Arledge ancestor. Looking at ancestery.com, there is a connection 4 or 5 generations back. Small world!
Western Kentucky History Blog by Brenda Joyce Jerome
At least twice a week, I read Brenda's blog on Western Kentucky history and genealogy. Several weeks ago, she posted a document about the Wilcox heirs....only it was "surviving" heirs. My ancestor who was a sibling to those listed, had already passed away, so he was NOT mentioned. Fortunately, I do have one other document, which was loose in a file at the Caldwell (KY) County courthouse, which names him. I sent that document to her, so she would have access to all heirs.

Would be SO nice to have a photo of this ancestor!
A distant cousin on my husband's side of the family emailed today, hoping that we could help identify a photo of Mary Elizabeth Edwards Brown. She is the oldest child of 10 children from a Georgia family, and there is no known photo of her. Sad! Hopefully, one day, we will discover one!

December 7
Well, yesterday, I became a member of a family group on Facebook....a family group that I know little or nothing about. This family is on my maternal side. Thanks for including me! How I got to this family is an interesting story....I have a high school friend named Peggy who lives in LA. It turns out that her pastor is my distant cousin. She put me in touch with her pastor, and he has put me in touch with this Facebook group!
Today is my dad's birthday. I have made him a red velvet cake.
Today is also the 69th anniversary of the day Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese.

Genealogy Request about my inlaw's Ancestry
My niece (by marriage) in CA emailed today saying her father wanted information on my husband's parents' ancestry. Thanks to Ancestry.com, I was able to come up with the information fairly quickly. I'll soon find out if what I sent him is enough.....or, whether he wants more.

Ancestors on my mom's side
Just yesterday, a high school friend of mine, who lives in Louisiana, put me in touch with her pastor. He has the same last name as one of my great great great grandfathers on my mother's side. We exchanged emails, and I'm waiting to hear if he knows (or has heard of) any of my relatives. He did comment that his relatives' gravesites were in (or near) Paducah, KY. That is where my mom was born, so I think we are probably related! :-) I hope he has some information on this family, because I have very little!

Xerox photos of great great great grandparents
Last Saturday, June 12, 2010, we drove from High Point, NC to Lexington, NC to the Davidson County Public Library. There in the genealogy room in a vertical file folder, I found someone had been so very thoughtful to include a xerox photo of my great great great grandparents, Jacob and Anna (Hendricks) Feezor. Thanks! Then, Sunday we drove to see the cemetery at Jersey Baptist Church. I was hoping to find their tombstones, but the heat and humidity forced me back to the car after about 30 minutes. Maybe another time!
